A restaurant industry client wanted to reduce operational costs and improve the reliability of its virtual desktop and server infrastructure.
The business was hosted with a regional cloud provider, but downtime and support challenges were generating frequent help-desk calls and pulling attention away from customer service.
Challenges
The existing virtual desktop environment and server infrastructure caused downtime, support issues, and repeated operational interruptions. Frequent help-desk calls consumed internal time that should have been spent on customers and business operations.
The Solution
MAQ created a dedicated virtual private cloud on AWS and migrated Windows server infrastructure including Active Directory, file servers, line-of-business application servers, and client-facing web servers. The infrastructure was distributed across two availability zones to improve resilience.
Amazon WorkSpaces Migration
The virtual desktop environment was moved to Amazon WorkSpaces. Traditional desktops were replaced with zero clients, providing users with a managed desktop experience while reducing infrastructure complexity and supporting a near-zero-downtime transition.
Benefits to Client
The move improved reliability through AWS redundancy, reduced costs through consumption-based pricing, and increased productivity by reducing support tickets. MAQ’s infrastructure management allowed the client to focus more time on customers rather than technical maintenance.
